Summer Bummer

I hope everyone is enjoying June and the unofficial beginning of summer. Although it is Wednesday, I only just finished reading the "Summer Reading" issue of the New York Times Book Review from Sunday, June 3rd. Joe Queenan's essay on the last page is about the age-old tradition of the high school reading list. He has some pretty strong feelings about Thomas Hardy's "Return of the Native" that you might guess at from the title. Check out the article - especially if you are a fan of classic literature.

I'm almost finished with "The Omnivore's Dilemma." Despite some of the author's opinions of vegetarians, I LOVE the book. For anyone who EATS - this is a must read. I guarantee you'll learn something new.

If I remember correctly, somewhere on this blog Beth mentioned that she would visit Iowa if/when I perfected chocolate coconut ice cream. Pack your bags!! I can also make that with almonds if you prefer an Almond Joy ice cream. The guest room awaits you!
