Recommendation - Wickett's Remedy by Myla Goldberg

Hi bookclub,

I know we talked about sharing our reading recommendations on the blog, but it took me a while to get around to it. Some of you may have already heard me rave about this book, so bear with me.

I'm recommending Wickett's Remedy for several reasons:
1. The setting - if you have an affinity for Boston's history, you'll enjoy this look at the 1918 flu epidemic. And if you love government documents you'll recognize many Boston city documents as the foundation of this story. There are other primary source materials, like letters and newspaper articles that set the scene.
2. The characters - they seem very true, maybe even ordinary. But they demonstrate how an individual can be impacted by many different historical events - war, disease, etc.
3. Beautiful writing - okay, I admit that I can't do her writing justice, but believe me, it's fun to read.

So what are you reading???

-Jen
